On a driving tour the road is half the pleasure, but it is the stops that give an itinerary its character. In Caltagirone, Palazzo Spadaro Libertini lets your group leave the cars for a few hours and walk into a historic house that is still in private hands: not a museum and not an events venue, but a family house in the old town, opened for you by arrangement.
The opening is agreed for your group alone and fitted into the day as a visit, a meeting and a table, around your Club’s route. We are currently collecting requests for upcoming programmes, with particular attention to the 2027 season.
Why Palazzo Spadaro belongs on a Club itinerary
A private house, opened on request
In Sicily a dimora storica, a historic residence, is often exactly what the words say: a house that still belongs to a family, with its furniture, its papers and its own calendar. Outside its scheduled public tours, this one opens only when a date has been agreed with the owners, and the timing and format of your visit are built around the Club’s itinerary.
The State Rooms as part of the day
The main floor holds five State Rooms, still hung with their original damasks. Alongside the visit there can be a convivial moment inside the house, from an aperitivo, the Italian habit of a drink with something to eat, to a catered lunch.
A real precedent
The house has already welcomed the world of high-performance cars: in October 2025 a touring event stopped in Caltagirone, and the day closed with a private lunch in the State Rooms.

Caltagirone, just outside the door
A hill town at around 600 metres in south-eastern Sicily, about 75 km from Catania. Its old town is one of the eight towns of the UNESCO site «Late Baroque Towns of the Val di Noto», rebuilt after the earthquake of 1693, and under Italian law it is recognised as a town of established ceramic tradition: you see it on the 142 steps of the Santa Maria del Monte staircase, faced with maiolica tiles, a short walk from the Palazzo. The visit can be where your discovery of the town begins.

How the stop can take shape
The visit can be adapted to your Club’s timing and programme.
Visit and lunch in the State Rooms
A welcome, a private visit of the house and the option of lunch in the State Rooms, with catering to be agreed with the owners. In Italy lunch is usually served between 12.30 and 2.30 pm: a stop built around it fills the middle of the day and leaves the afternoon for the road.
Visit and a convivial moment
The visit can be followed by an aperitivo or a light lunch, depending on availability and on your programme.
Private visit
An opening arranged for your group, devoted to the Palazzo and its rooms, and easy to fit into a longer day on the road.
On request, further experiences in Caltagirone and dedicated services can be considered, according to your Club’s programme and subject to confirmation with the owners.

Palazzo Spadaro Libertini can be one stop on a longer driving tour, and it helps to know who does what. Sicily Luxury is not a tour operator or a travel agency and does not sell travel packages: we handle the contact with the house and the proposal for this stop. When your programme includes hotels, transfers, ferry crossings or car transport, bookings and other travel services, the whole organisation rests with the travel agency, the DMC (destination management company) or the operator your Club has appointed. For more ambitious programmes, that agency or DMC can build the stop in Caltagirone into a wider itinerary through south-eastern Sicily and its Baroque towns.
